UPDATE: Police Identify 59-Year-Old Man Killed by Car in Bloomfield

Newark – Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens, II, and Bloomfield Public Safety Director Samuel A. DeMaio announced today that the Bloomfield Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office are investigating a fatal pedestrian incident.

Patrick Forsyth, 59, of Bloomfield was struck by a man driving a Dodge Ram pickup truck at approximately 8:33 AM on Friday, Jan. 11, at the intersection of Broad and James Streets.

He was transported to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 9:12 am on Jan. 11.

The driver of the truck remained at the scene.

At this time, no charges have been filed. The investigation is active and ongoing.
