UPDATE: Death of One-Year-Old Boy Found in Camden Alleyway Ruled A Homicide

Camden

The death of a 1-year-old child found decomposing in a Camden alleyway has been ruled a homicide.

According to authorities, on October 11, 2018, a badly decomposed body of a child was found in an alleyway near the 800 block of Mt. Ephraim Avenue in Camden.

Officials say after a passer-by discovered the remains, they were subsequently taken to the Gloucester County Medical Examiner’s office and New Jersey State Police Lab for testing, who ruled the cause of death of Jah’vi Brown was Homicidal Violence of Undetermined Etiology.

According to police, on December 6, 2018, Anthony Burnett, 25 of Camden, came to the Bellmawr Police Department regarding a custody issue with his son’s mother, Tynaizha Brown, 23, of Bellmawr.

A known DNA sample of the missing boy was compared to the remains and his identity was confirmed to be Jah’vi Brown, 1, the son of Burnett and Brown.

The investigation revealed that Jah’vi was last seen on August 20, 2018, in Bellmawr. Neither parent reported the child missing before December 6.

The investigation remains ongoing, and no further information will be released at this time.
