Hudson County authorities announced the arrest of three juveniles from Jersey City and charged in connection with the murder of Judane Holmes, 16, of Jersey City.
On Wednesday, December 26, 2018, at approximately 3:25 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department received a report of shots fired in the area of 209 Bidwell Avenue in Jersey City.
Responding Jersey City Police Officers found Holmes at that location with apparent gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 3:35 p.m.
The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office has determined the Cause of Death to be gunshot wounds and the Manner of Death to be homicide.
According to a statement released by authorities, on Friday, January 4, at approximately 2:00 p.m., a 14-year-old male was arrested in the area of Virginia Avenue in Jersey City. He has been charged with Murder as Accomplice, Possession of a Weapon (Firearm) for an Unlawful Purpose and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (Firearm) in violation of N.J.S. 2C:39-5.
Officials said on Friday, January 4, shortly after 12:30 p.m., a 15-year-old male was arrested in the area of Sawmill Road in Alloway Township, New Jersey.
Police charged the teen with Murder as Accomplice, Possession of a Weapon (Firearm) for an Unlawful Purpose and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (Firearm).
Police say on Monday, January 7, a 16-year-old male was arrested at the Prosecutor’s Office located at 595 Newark Avenue in Jersey City.
Police charged him with Murder. Possession of a Weapon (Firearm) for an Unlawful Purpose, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (Firearm)
Prosecutor Suarez credited the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit for the investigation and arrests and the Jersey City Police Department for assisting in the investigation.
The above charges are merely accusations, and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. R.P.C. 3.6(b)(6).
