Firefighters in Newark battled a fast-moving fire that tore through an apartment at a housing complex in Newark's West Ward Monday morning.
The fire broke out at 79 Georgia King Village at approximately 12:30 a.m. sending firefighters to the scene where they encountered flames pushing from the first and second floor of the two and a half brick structure.
Firefighters were able to get the blaze under control in under an hour and a search of the structure indicated no trapped or injured occupants.
Officials say 2 adults 6 children needed to be relocated due to substantial damage to their home.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
