Newark Police are investigating a shooting that connected on one person in the city during the overnight hours.
According to preliminary reports, officials at Clara Maass Hospital contacted police when a male victim entered the emergency department suffering a gunshot wound at approximately 4:20 a.m.
The victim reported to authorities that he suffered his injuries on Roseville Avenue in Newark prior to making it to the hospital.
Police in Newark canvassed the 100 block of Roseville Avenue where they located evidence that a shooting occurred, but no other victims were found.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
