Armed Suspect Robs, Then Fire Shots at Victim in Newark

Officials in Newark are reporting that police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a suspect in a robbery and shooting that occurred on Tuesday, November 20th.

According to police, the incident happened at approximately 8:30 p.m., where police responded to Sidi Supermarket, located at 300 South 7th Street, on a call of shots fired.

Police say a man entered the store and attempted to rob a customer inside at gunpoint when a struggle ensued as other patrons intervened and the suspect fired the handgun before fleeing the scene on foot.

Police described the suspect as a male in his twenties and about 5’8” tall.

Police say the man wore a gray jacket, royal blue ski pants and black Nike sneakers. According to police, a size 10 ½ sneaker was left at the scene.

While police are actively searching for the suspect, we seek the public’s assistance in quickly locating him and removing him from our streets.

This investigation is active and ongoing.
