A cow who reportedly escaped a slaughterhouse in Paterson made its way on a busy NJ interstate highway during the overnight hours.
NJ State Police responded to the unusual incident after motorists contacted police when they saw the animal running westbound in the eastbound lanes near I-80 just before 3 a.m.
State Troopers arrived at the scene and were able to capture and secure the cow near Rt. 19 in Paterson.
The slaughterhouse responsible for the cow agreed to release the cow to the Skylands Animal Sanctuary in Wantage.
There were no injuries reported.
