Police in Newark are looking into a shooting that injured a male in Newark's lower West Ward on Monday evening.
According to preliminary reports, police were called to the 200 block of Georgia King Village after receiving reports of a gunshot victim at that location.
Units arrived at the scene and found a male victim suffering a gunshot wound to the leg according to reports.
EMS rushed the victim the short distance to University Hospitals where doctors treated non-life threatening injuries.
According to a preliminary investigation, the victim was shot in the 300 block of West Market Street then ran to the security booth for help at Georgia King Village.
Police canvassed the area and found shell casings, but there were no other injuries reported.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
