Police in Newark arrested several suspects who were occupying a stolen Hillside DPW vehicle on Sunday evening.
According to preliminary reports, Hillside Police notified area police departments after thieves stole a blue Ford Expedition with a reported NJ license plate number "30112MG" belonging to the city's DPW shortly before 7 p.m. on Saturday evening.
Police on routine patrol located the occupied vehicle in the city's South Ward near Lehigh Avenue and attempted to pull the car over when the driver rammed several police cars and sped away in an attempt to evade capture.
Police followed the vehicle through several communities in the South Ward before the suspects bailed from the car on the grounds of Shabazz High School.

Officers in a foot pursuit captured about five juvenile suspects shortly after they bailed from the vehicle according to reports.
There were no injuries reported to officers.
The incident remains under investigation.
