A 31-year-old Trenton man has been convicted for the 2014 shooting death of a man found in a burning car in East Trenton.
A jury found Calier Samad, guilty of felony murder, robbery, possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose and aggravated arson, and not guilty of counts of murder and possession of a handgun without a permit.
According to the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, in January 2014, Samad and Joeryan Foreman killed Chevin Burgess, 22, of Trenton, during a robbery. Authorities say after shooting Burgess, both men drove to Hart Avenue where they parked the car with Burgess inside and set the vehicle on fire.
Officials say Foreman pleaded guilty in March of 2018.
According to authorities, Samad and Foreman remain in custody in the Mercer County jail pending their sentencing.
