Police in Newark are reporting the arrest of Mr. Dajaun E. Smith, 32, of Newark, in connection with a stabbing that occurred today.
Authoritites saysShortly before 10:40 a.m., police responded to an apartment building in the 200-block of Morris Avenue on a call of a stabbing. Responding officers located a man who had been stabbed by another man at the scene.
Police say the victim suffered non-life threatening injuries and was treated by EMS. Police also located a second victim, who the suspect swung the knife toward, but was not injured.
Smith was arrested at the scene and is charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.
These charges are merely accusations.
This suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
