Union County authorities are looking into a reported police pursuit resulting in a crash that injured several people in Elizabeth early Sunday morning.
According to preliminary reports, police began to follow a vehicle that refused to stop for a traffic violation when the car sped away from officers then crashed into several vehicles near the intersection of Kilsyth Road and Virginia St Elizabeth at approximately midnight.
The violent crash had two innocent females -who occupied a Mini Cooper- suffering severe injuries when the stolen car out of Irvington Township slammed into the car.
The women were rushed to the hospital where their injuries were only reported as life-threatening.
According to reports, the stolen vehicle had two juvenile males and a female inside during the collision.
Two of the males bailed from the car which initiated a foot pursuit with the officers on the scene, but the female had to be assisted from the vehicle then taken to an area hospital.
Police caught up with one of the suspects and placed him under arrest a short distance away.
Police say a total of 4-5 cars were crushed and the Union County crime scene assisted in the investigation at the scene.
