US Customs and Border Protection officials say officers seized 9,000 pairs of counterfeit Nike sneakers at the Port of New York/Newark in September and completed the seizure last Thursday.
According to authorities, the shipment arrived at the Port of New York and Newark from China in September and were reportedly heading to California.
The agency's trade experts, worked with the trademark holders and determined the sneakers to be counterfeit but if they were authentic, the sneakers could have sold for a total of nearly $1.7 million.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations agents in Newark continue to investigate.
