Police in Newark are investigating a brutal beating of a teenaged boy that occurred in close proximity from the entrance of a Newark High School on Friday during the after school hours.
The attack happened just outside of the West Side High School gymnasium which is in a close range from the school's main entrance.
Police and school officials released very little information of the savage attack, but parents say they want answers after a teenaged boy was punched, kicked, and thrown to the ground in an alleged attempt to take the high school senior's sneakers off of his feet according to reports.
A video that surfaced on social media had the hooded males strike the victim even while he was lying on the South Orange Avenue side of the building shielding from facial trauma and assault.
Several men in uniforms, who appeared to by school security, were observed on the video in an apparent attempt to assist the young man but it is not clear what their roles were because officials have not released additional information to the West Ward community regarding the circumstances behind the attack according to relatives of the victim.
There were no severe injuries immediately reported.
The investigation remains active and ongoing at this time. No arrests have been reported.
