Police set up a large crime scene that spanned around a McDonald's restaurant after a gunman fired multiple rounds in the area that struck a building in Newark’s West Ward this morning.
According to a statement released by police, shortly before 8:15 a.m., police responded to 1st and West Market streets on a call of shots fired.
Units arrived at the scene and began a search for a suspect who opened fire in the direction of a male near The Georgia King Village Housing Development.
No one has been reported injured, but property damage was found according to Newark Police.
The suspect fled the scene in a silver car that sped away.
A weapon was reportedly recovered near the McDonalds.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
