The public's help is sought in locating Mr. Tauheed Judd, 38, of Newark, and Mr. Michael Hawkins, 40, of Orange, who are wanted for separate incidents of aggravated assault according to a statement released by The Newark Police Department on Wednesday.
Police say on Friday, November 2nd, at approximately 4:20 p.m., they received reports of a woman who was injured after being assaulted by a man that she knows while inside a vehicle.
According to police, the man allegedly strangled the woman, threatened her life then dragged her out of the vehicle and onto a porch in the area before fleeing the scene.
Detectives investigating this incident developed sufficient evidence to identify Tauheed Judd as a suspect in this incident and have secured a warrant for his arrest. Judd is charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault, Terroristic Threats and Simple Assault.
In a separate incident, police say on Friday, October 26th, at 12:30 p.m., a woman was nearly struck by a driver of a U-Haul truck in the area of South 20th Street and Springfield Avenue.
Police say the driver exited the vehicle and threatened the victim’s life before fleeing the scene.
Police have identified the driver as Michael Hawkins and have secured a warrant for his arrest on charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (vehicle), Possession of a Weapon (car) and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.
These charges are merely accusations.
Each suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
