A fatal shooting that took place in Plainfield Sunday evening is under investigation, acting Union County Prosecutor Michael A. Monahan announced Monday.
The victim has been identified as 45-year-old Benjamin Nord.
According to officials, police responded to a report of a shooting on the 400 block of Liberty Street, where they found Nord there suffering from gunshot wounds.
Authorities say Nord was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 8:30 p.m.
This matter remains under active joint investigation by the Union County Homicide Task Force, Plainfield Police Division, and Union County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit.
