Authorities have released the identity of the 18-year-old East Orange man killed on Route 280 crash Monday night.
According to officials, police responded to the area of Route 280 east near mile marker 7.2 in West Orange for a report of a crash shortly after 10 p.m.
An investigation into the crash revealed that a Ford Focus was traveling west on Route 280 when a tire blew out.
Police say the vehicle lost control and went off the road then overturned and struck the guardrail.
Officials say the front seat passenger was ejected.
The driver - later identified as Mr. Jontee Burris, 18, of East Orange - suffered minor injuries, while the passenger - Mr. Jared White, 18, of East Orange - suffered fatal injuries.
Police say the left and center lane were closed for about five hours.
