A late evening concert that ended in a confrontation among some concertgoers had police on the scene to disperse several people that began to engage in fighting.
Officials say the incident happened on the campus of Kean University just after 11 p.m. where campus police received mutual assistance from local municipalities after several people from a large crowd exited a concert and began to engage in physical confrontations in the courtyard near the dorms.
According to a statement released to RLS Metro by Kean, University Relations, Vice President Karen Smith, said, "The University was pleased to host rapper Lil Baby last night as part of our Homecoming celebration on our Union campus.
After the event, Kean police and law enforcement from surrounding communities responded to a fight outside the venue, which was quickly resolved.
Although some people were initially detained, they were released without charges and no one was seriously injured." Vice President Smith said.
Police were able to disperse the crown who lingered near the dorms in under 30 minutes without further incidents.
Vice President Smith said, "Kean takes the safety and security of our community very seriously at all of our events."
The incident remains under investigation.
