Emergency responders are on the scene of a pedestrian strike with two victims down at this time in Newark's Central Ward.
According to preliminary reports, police were called to the intersection of South Orange Avenue and Howard Street at approximately 1:30 p.m. after 911 reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle at that location.
Crews arrived at the scene and found two badly injured victims suffering compound fractures according to reports.
EMS transported the pair to University Hospital where doctors immediately began to treat their injuries.
There is an active investigation underway into what caused the incident.
The driver stayed at the scene.
