There were no severe injuries reported for a crash that involved a police cruiser on an Irvington Township street on Wednesday afternoon.
According to preliminary reports, emergency responders were called to the area of the bus station on Springfield Avenue at around 4:10 p.m. where they found a badly damaged police car that was involved in a crash with a civilian vehicle.
Irvington Township city officials did not return requests for public information, but witnesses say the police cruiser somehow lost control and slammed into the car near the bus station.
Witnesses say after a heated conversation between the driver of the car and the involved officer, about three other officers approached the driver and engaged in the conversation then passed him what appeared to be a citation.
Both of the vehicles were towed from the scene and the driver of the civilian car was assisted by an officer remove some laundry from his car before giving him a ride to his destination in a marked police car.
The incident remains under investigation.
