SOMERVILLE, N.J. - Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson, Chief of County Detectives John W. Fodor, and Raritan Borough Chief of Police Raymond Nolte announced that Ramon Cadiz, 53 of First Avenue, Raritan Borough, pled guilty to two (2) counts of first degree murder before the Honorable Robert B. Reed, J.S.C. (ret. on recall).
Officials say Defendant Cadiz faces a minimum mandatory term of thirty (30) years imprisonment and a maximum term of seventy-five (75) years imprisonment on each murder count.
Prosecutor Robertson stated that at approximately 3:15 p.m. on December 15, 2015, the Raritan Borough Police Department responded to First Avenue in the Borough of Raritan regarding concerns for the welfare of the occupants of the residence.
The officers entered the residence and proceeded to the second floor master bedroom where they discovered the deceased body of Kim Streath, 15. Officers then cleared from the residence and preserved the house as a crime scene, while obtaining a search warrant.
Detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes and Crime Scene Units responded to the scene to conduct the investigation in conjunction with the Raritan Borough Police Department. Detectives located the deceased body of K. S.’s mother, Sandra Guiseppe, 51, on the first floor of the residence.
Prosecutor Robertson stated that as a result of the investigation, detectives identified defendant Ramon Cadiz as a suspect. A statewide police broadcast was issued for defendant Cadiz and the vehicle he was believed to be operating.
Prosecutor Robertson stated that just before midnight, the North Brunswick Police Department located defendant Cadiz’s vehicle parked in a secluded area on Petunia Drive in the Colony Oaks Apartment Complex.
Officials say at approximately 4:00 a.m., Somerset County detectives approached the vehicle and encountered defendant Cadiz sleeping in the front driver’s seat. Defendant Cadiz was placed under arrest without incident.
Defendant Cadiz is lodged in the Somerset County Jail, his bail having been revoked by Judge Reed after the guilty pleas were entered.
Sentencing is scheduled for November 16, 2018. The State was represented in this matter by Somerset County Assistant Prosecutor Frank P. Kolodzieski and Assistant Prosecutor Anthony Parenti.
