An early morning stabbing that sent several people to the hospital in Paterson has police investigating a motive for the incident.
According to preliminary reports, police were called to the 900 block of East 25th Street to investigate reports of a stabbing in progress just before 3 a.m.
Units arrived at the scene and requested EMS on a rush after they found a severely injured person suffering multiple stab wounds at that location according to police.
EMS rushed the victim to St. Joseph's Medical Center where doctors immediately treated life-threatening injuries.
A short time later, Paterson Police were informed by St. Joseph's Hospital officials that two additional victims suffering stab wounds entered the emergency department.
The walk-in victim injuries did not appear to be life-threatening according to authorities.
The investigation into the incident is in its early stages and is conducted by the Paterson Police Department at this time.
There were no arrests reported.
