Camden County Police were flagged down on Tuesday morning and told that a man had been shot. Police found the victim, Mr. Donte Brown, on the intersection of Ferry Avenue and Kossuth Street suffering from a gunshot wound where he was taken to Cooper University Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
Police say during the investigation, detectives learned that Dezmenn Warren had been in the area at the time of the shooting and allegedly shot at Donte Brown.
Police charged Dezmenn Warren with first-degree Murder on September 16, 2018, according to Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson.
Officers took Dezmenn Warren into custody Wednesday afternoon at the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office without incident then transported him to the Camden County Correctional Facility pending a pretrial detention hearing. Under Criminal Justice Reform rules, the court may order he be detained or released with conditions.
All persons charged with criminal offenses are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.
