A man found suffering a fatal gunshot wound to the head in Newark’s South Ward has authorities searching for a killer.
Reports of shots fired that rang out in the 50's block of Grumman Avenue sent police to the scene where officers canvasses the scene found a male victim bleeding from the head after suffering an apparent gunshot wound just before midnight according to authorities.
The unconscious and unresponsive male was pronounced dead a short time later.
Detectives for the Essex County Prosecutor's Office arrived at the scene to take over the investigation.
The motive for the shooting is under an active and ongoing investigation
There were no other injuries reported.
