Officials at a private school in Bayonne evacuated the school after heavy rain caused streets to turn into rivers this afternoon.
According to preliminary reports, staff and students were sent home from school in the area off 100 East 22nd Street after rain flooded the neighborhood.
Steady precipitation forecasted by meteorologist called for steady and drenching rain to occur throughout the Northern Jersey region.
Emergency responders in Bayonne had their hands full responding to drivers and occupants whose vehicles were surrounded by water.
No serious injuries have been reported.
