Firefighters extinguished a two-alarm house fire that tore through a home in Newark's West Ward on Sunday evening.
Crews responded to the 100 block of Sunset Avenue at around 5:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a fire with possible trapped occupants.
Firefighter arrived at the scene and found residents evacuating the two-story wood frame structure that was ignited in flames according to reports.
Crews were able to beat down the fire before making their way inside for a search that yielded negative for trapped or injured occupants.
The fire was placed under control shortly before 6 p.m. with the official cause under investigation.
