According to police September 18th, at approximately 3:40 p.m., members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit arrested Alexander Harris without incident in the area of Bayside Place in Jersey City in connection with the murder of Eric Crocker which occurred earlier this month in Jersey City.
Police say on September 14, 2018, following a preliminary investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department, a Complaint Warrant was issued for the arrest of Harris, 29, of Jersey City.
Police charged Harris with Murder in Conspiracy to Commit MurdeR, Possession of a Weapon (Handgun) for an Unlawful Purpose and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (Handgun).
Harris was processed and then transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility in Kearny. He is scheduled to make his first appearance on these charges at 9:00 a.m. on Monday,
September 24, 2018, in the Hudson County Administration Building located at 595 Newark Avenue, Jersey City. A motion for a detention hearing has been filed by the State.
Prosecutor Suarez credited the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit with the investigation and the arrest, as well as the Jersey City Police Department for assisting with the investigation.
Previously, on September 15, 2018, an arrest was made of Jahmir Thomas, 20, of Jersey City, also in connection with Crocker’s murder.
Authorities say Thomas was similarly charged.
On Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at approximately 5:55 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department received a report of gunshots in the area of Lembeck and Ocean avenues in Jersey City.
Upon arrival, responding Police Officers found a male victim on Lembeck Avenue with multiple gunshot wounds to his torso.
The victim was later identified as Crocker, 23, of Bayonne. He was pronounced dead at the Jersey City Medical Center at approximately 6:30 p.m. The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office determined the Cause of death to be multiple gunshot wounds to the torso and the Manner of death to be Homicide.
The Prosecutor’s Homicide Unit continues to actively investigate this case with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department.
