A 17-year-old male, from Camden was charged in connection with the fatal shooting that killed 46-year-old Michelle Huelas on August 11, 2018.
According to authorities, just before 4 p.m., Camden County police were flagged down and advised of a vehicle parked in the middle of Broadway near Kaighns Avenue. When police approached the car, they found the victim in the passenger’s seat suffering from a gunshot wound.
Officials say Michelle Huelas was taken to Cooper University Hospital where she was pronounced deceased a short time later.
During the investigation, detectives were able to determine that the shooting occurred on the 700 block of Anna Sample Lane, and that the juvenile had allegedly been in the area at the time of the shooting.
The 17-year-old, whose name will not be released because he is a juvenile, was charged with first-degree Murder on September 18, 2019, according to Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson.
The juvenile was processed on September 19, 2018, and is being held at the Camden County Juvenile Detention Center.
All persons charged with criminal offenses are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.
