The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Garfield Police Department are requesting information from the public regarding a hit and run collision that resulted in serious injuries to a pedestrian.
According to authorities, at approximately 7:06 p.m. on Sept. 17th, the Garfield Police Department received a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in front of 465 MacArthur Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers observed a male victim lying in the roadway with serious injuries. The victim was treated at the scene and transported to Hackensack University Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition.
Officials say evidence at the scene, along with surveillance video recovered in the area, indicate that the striking vehicle is a dark colored 1992-1999 Chevy Suburban.
The vehicle is missing the passenger side-view mirror and has possible damage to the right side of the bumper, hood, and windshield. The striking vehicle fled the scene traveling northbound on MacArthur Avenue.
