A high-speed pursuit that began in the city of Clifton ended in Newark with officers from the Essex County Sheriff’s Office assisting in an arrest this afternoon.
Police began following the vehicle onto the Garden State Parkway south where the driver made his way into Newark at around 3:45 p.m.
The suspect reportedly sped around several neighborhoods in Newark before he bailed from the car near 15th Avenue and South 18th Street.
Newark Police and Sheriffs’ Officers converged on the area and cornered the suspect who attempted to break away.
The suspect was apprehended by one of the Essex County Sheriff’s officers.
The suspect was wanted for stealing the car. Police believe one other person remains at-large.
There were no injuries reported.
