Newark East Ward authorities are on the search for a suspect who is wanted for an early morning armed robbery that occurred in the Ironbound section of the city.
According to preliminary reports, police were called to the 100 block of Polk Street after they received reports of a robbery in progress before 1:15 a.m.
Several police units arrive at the scene and found the victim who reported to officers that a male suspect approached and took a cell phone and house keys shortly before officers' arrival.
The suspect then sprinted away from the scene with the victim's possessions.
There were no immediate reports of a weapon being shown nor were there any physical injuries reported. The suspect remains at-large.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
