Firefighters battled an early morning fire that damaged an Elizabeth cleaners on Thursday.
According to authorities, firefighters responded to Top Cleaners located in the 400 block of Rahway Avenue at around 3:30 a.m. after receiving reports of smoke coming from the building.
Upon their arrival, crews encountered heavy smoke coming from the vents of the building.
Officials say firefighters forced entry into the dry cleaners and found the source of the fire in the rear of the establishment.
According to authorities, the fire was placed under control within 25 minutes but the building suffered heavy smoke damage.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
