Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has released the identity of the 23-year-old man killed by gunfire Tuesday afternoon.
According to authorities, yesterday at approximately 5:55 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department received a report of gunshots in the area of Lembeck and Ocean avenues in Jersey City.
Upon arrival, responding officers found a male victim on Lembeck Avenue with multiple gunshot wounds to his torso.
Officials say the victim was later identified as Eric Crocker, 23, of Bayonne. He was treated at the scene before being transported by Emergency Medical Services to the Jersey City Medical Center. Crocker was pronounced dead at approximately 6:30 p.m.
The cause and manner of death are pending an investigation by the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.
The Prosecutor’s Homicide Unit is actively investigating this case with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department. No arrests have been made at this time.
