Authorities in Paterson are looking into a shots fired incident that occurred on one of its city streets.
According to preliminary reports, the overnight shooting happened in the vicinity of 12th Avenue and East 23rd Street at approximately 3:35 a.m.
Units arriving at the scene found multiple shell casings, but a thorough search of the area did not indicate any victims or property damage according to reports.
Police searched area hospitals for possible walk-in victims.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
