Police in Newark are investigating a stabbing that caused severe injuries to a victim in a neighborhood in Newark.
According to a statement released by Newark Police, at 2:35 a.m. police responded to South 18th Street and Hopkins on a call of a domestic violence stabbing.
Police say units arriving at the scene found a male suffering a stab injury after he was cut with a sharp object following a quarrel with a woman that he knows.
According to Newark Police officials, the male is reportedly in stable condition.
During the incident, police say the male also struck the woman with a blunt object.
The pair were transported to the hospital where doctors began treating their injuries.
The incident remains under investigation.
