A vehicle that was reportedly stolen from a Morris County community had police chase the car into the Newark city limits overnight.
According to preliminary reports, Newark Police were informed of a vehicle being followed into the city's downtown district by the Clifton Police Department from the NJ-21 approach into Newark.
Reports said suspects occupying a black Mercedes Benz with reported NJ license plate numbers "J41-KGN" sped through exit 4 of NJ-21 with the vehicle making its way southbound before turning onto Raymond Boulevard at a high rate of speed.
The vehicle -stolen out of Mountain Lakes- was finally lost in the vicinity of Bergen Street near South Orange Avenue according to preliminary reports.
A Clifton Police Department vehicle suffered minor damage after it crashed near Raymond Boulevard according to reports.
It’s not clear at this time if the stolen vehicle was being perused for any additional crimes.
There were no injuries reported.
