New Community Workforce Development Center, located at 274 South Orange Ave., Newark, is enrolling new students in its career and technical programs.
Officials say the accredited school offers financial aid to those who qualify and helps students get the certifications they need to obtain jobs that pay a living wage.
In 2017, the school had an 80 percent job placement rate. Some participating employers include local hospitals, automotive dealerships and food service/hospitality establishments according to officials.
Programs include Automotive Technician sponsored by Ford Motor Company, Construction Building Trades Specialist (carpentry, electrical, plumbing and painting), Business and Computer Technologies, Clinical Medical Assistant, Culinary Arts Specialist, Diesel Technician and Patient Care Technician. There are no residency requirements for participation.
