NJ State Corrections Police Officers Rescue Man Suffering Medical Emergency in Newark's South Ward

Two NJ State Corrections Police Officers resuscitated a man suffering a medical emergency near a fast food restaurant in Newark's South Ward on Wednesday evening.

According to preliminary reports, the unidentified man collapsed near the White Castle on Elizabeth Avenue at around 7:40 p.m. after reportedly overdosing on an unknown substance.

The police officers noticed the man laying on the ground and immediately jumped into action.

The heroic officers provided the man with chest compressions and other medical aid until he gained consciousness according to reports.

The officers, only identified as Officer Coker and Officer Amons, comforted the man until Newark Police Officers and medical crews arrived at the scene to provide further assistance reports said.

EMS transported the man to an area hospital where he is expected to recover.
