A former corrections officer at the Edna Mahan Correctional Facility for Women accused of sexually abusing inmates was sentenced to 16 years in prison on Thursday.
According to authorities, Jason Mays, 46, and three other employees were accused of sexually abusing inmates at the Edna Mahan Correctional Facility for Women.
Officials say Mays was convicted today on charges he abused two of them and engaged in a pattern of misconduct.
Mays will also be subject to lifetime parole supervision and will be required to register as a sex offender.
The three other employees who admitted abusing the inmates, pleaded guilty to official misconduct charges. According to authorities, they will not have to register as sex offenders, and one of them according to public records has already received parole.
