A Waste Management employee is in stable condition at University Hospital’s Trauma Unit after he was attacked by two pit bulls Monday afternoon.
According to a statement released by Elizabeth city spokesperson Kelly Martin, on July 23rd at 1:54 p.m., an employee of Regional Industries Waste Management was picking up the garbage on the 700 block of Eugenia Place, when two pit bulls escaped from a yard and attacked the employee.
Officials say the driver of the garbage truck got out to help his co-worker and the two pit bulls reportedly turned and chased him back into the vehicle.
Spokesperson Martin said their supervisor - who happened to pull up during the attack - blew the horn and the pit bulls retreated back to their home.
Martin says the victim suffered bite wounds to both of his arms, legs and face.
EMS transported the victim to University Hospital’s Trauma Unit, where he was listed in stable condition.
The Elizabeth Animal Warden responded to the scene and ultimately took custody of both of the pit bulls.
