Police in Newark are on the search for the driver of a car that struck a pedestrian on a city street then drove away.
According to a statement released by Newark Police officials, at approximately 12:42 a.m. Saturday, police responded to the 500-block of Central Avenue on a call of a pedestrian struck.
Officials say upon officers arrived at the scene, they found a man suffering non-life threatening injuries.
Officoals say the pedestrian was struck by the vehicle that crossed into the opposite direction of traffic while the victim was crossing the street.
The driver of the car sped away from the scene according to police.
EMS transported the alert and conscious victim to an area hospital for treatment.
The incident remains under investigation by the Newark Police Department.
