Acting Essex County Prosecutor Robert D. Laurino and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose have announced that authorities have arrested a suspect in connection with the July 5 murder of Mr. John A. Sosa on Brunswick Street in Newark.
According to a statement released by authorities, police found Sosa, 48 of Roselle, in the rear of an apartment building on Brunswick Street.
Medical staff pronounced Sosa dead at the scene according to authorities.
An investigation by detectives from the Essex County Prosecutor's Homicide Task Force, which includes officers from the Newark Police Department, led authorities to charge Antwan Malone, 31, of Hillside, with murder, felony murder, kidnapping, conspiracy and weapons charges.
Poice say Malone was taken into custody Saturday afternoon at a residence in Hillside by members of the United States Marshal's Fugitive Task Force who was assisted by the Hillside Police Department and the Union County Sheriff's Office.
Malone will be remanded to the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark, pending an appearance in the Essex County Central Judicial Processing Court (CJP), according to Chief Assistant Prosecutor Thomas S. Fennelly of the Prosecutor's Homicide Unit.
