A shooting that injured several people in Elizabeth overnight has authorities investigating.
According to preliminary reports, the shooting occurred just before midnight in the 1000 block of Bond Street where reports of shots fired sent police officers to the scene.
First arriving officers found a male victim suffering gunshot wounds at that location. EMS rushed the victim to the hospital suffering serious injuries according to reports.
Police focused their attention on a house that reportedly had a trail of blood leading to the upper floors.
Hospital officials at University Hospital contacted police when two other individuals entered the emergency department suffering gunshot injuries reports said. The extent of their injuries could not immediately be confirmed.
According to Elizabeth's City Spokesperson Kelly Martin, one of the victims was treated then released from the hospital while the other two victims remain hospitalized suffering non-life threatening injuries.
The Elizabeth Police Department will handle the investigation.
