A child struck by a car this afternoon in Jersey City has police investigating.
According to a statement released by Jersey City officials, police responded to the intersection of JFK Boulevard and Hague Street just before 4 p.m. for a pedestrian struck.
Upon their arrival, officers observed a juvenile male suffering non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say the 12-year-old big was walking home from school, crossing westbound on JFK Boulevard, when he was struck by a vehicle making a left-hand turn on a green light onto JFK.
According to police the driver remained on scene and was cooperative with police.
Police issued the female driver a summons for failure to stop for a pedestrian.
Police say the victim was taken to the Jersey City Medical Center with minor injuries accompanied by his parents who were notified.
There was no damage to the vehicle police said.
