Overnight Stabbing Vicitim Self-Transported to Newark Hospital

A person suffering a stab injury entered a Newark South Ward Hospital overnight prompting a police investigation into the motive behind the incident.

According to a preliminary investigation, officials were called to the Beth Israel Hospital, located on Lyons Avenue in Newark's South Ward, at approximately 11:40 p.m. after the unidentified victim entered the hospital's emergency department suffering a non-life threatening stab wound.

Police checked the vicinity of South Orange and Stuyvesant avenues when the victim implicated the area where the incident possibly occurred.

There were no arrests immediately reported, and the investigation remains active and ongoing.
