Harrison Bar Argument Ends in Arrest of Newark Man for Possession of Gun Police say

Swift police response to a bar in Harrison had cops confiscate a gun from a patron over the weekend.

According to a statement released by Harrison Police officials, officers were called to a bar on North Second Street shortly after 7 p.m. on Sunday after they received a report of two men engaged in a heated argument.

Police say witnesses heard one of the men say that he had a gun.

Authorities said the caller described the male's clothing, description, and age to the 911 operator who then relayed information to officers who were already on active patrol in the vicinity of the bar.

Upon officers' arrival, police immediately observed the described suspect seated with several other individuals authorities said.

Police say as officers cautiously approached, they saw the suspect quickly place his hands under the table then heard an object hit the floor.

Officers instructed the suspect not to move after a witness observed then identified the object as a gun.

According to authorities, police recovered a loaded 9mm handgun, but the other party involved in the verbal altercation was no longer present.

Police identified then charged **Mr. Angel Flores, 23, of Newark** with possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a firearm without a permit and other weapon-related charges.

Police say Flores also had a warrant out of Passaic. The handgun was discovered stolen from the state of Georgia.

The incident remains under investigation.
