The Lakewood Police Department is actively investigating the report of a student who brought a loaded handgun to the Oak Street school at around 9 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Police say say security was alerted by an arriving student who stated that a 9-year-old schoolmate was in the possession of a loaded gun.
Security was able to identify the 9-year-old and who police say did in fact locate a loaded 22 caliber handgun in his backpack.
According to police the investigation is ongoing and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
