Newark Police announced the arrest of Mr. Rasheem King, 41, of Newark, for possession of CDS marijuana.
According to a statement released by police, they acted on citizen complaints regarding drug sales in their community. Officers assigned to the 1st Precinct’s Quality of Life Enforcement Unit responded to the 200 block of Orange Street.
Police say officers observed King attempt to discard a clear bag when he saw authorities pull up at the scene.
Officers arrested King’s when they found that the bag contained marijuana according to police.
Police charged King with the possession of two pounds, 9.6 ounces of marijuana and possession with the intent to distribute CDS.
Authorities say they confiscated $362.00 in suspected drug proceeds from King during the investigation.
These charges are merely accusations. The suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
