Man Crashes Car After Being Shot in Paterson

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Troy Oswald announced a shooting that sent a man to the hospital in Paterson Saturday morning.

According to a statement released by authorities, at approximately 12:36, a.m., members of the Paterson Police Department responded to the area of 15th Avenue and East 24th Street on a report of shots fired.

Upon arrival, officers reported a motor vehicle accident and observed a vehicle -with two occupant- coming to a rest in the area of 15th Avenue damaging a residence.

Police say the driver, a 30-year-old male Paterson resident, sustained a gunshot wound and was immediately transported to Saint Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson for treatment.

The 30-year-old male Paterson resident is currently in critical condition. The second occupant only sustained injuries related to the motor vehicle accident.

The investigation remains active and ongoing. More information will be released once it becomes available.
